The work we do can define who we are. At Group-Q, we’ve spent over 20 years working within the language services world. That work – tackling the unique challenges of our industry from globalization to digital transformation – defines who we are in the new era of global content services.
Today, we are architects of the language industry. Your strategic ally for global growth.
And that is more than a clever tagline to us. It infuses everything we do and everything we are. Because we are both practitioners and pathfinders in this ecosystem, we bring our hard-earned, experienced perspective to every client challenge.
Our approach involves envisioning strategies to reach our clients’ goals, designing a rigorously detailed framework to meet them, and then applying creative agility to deliver an end product that actually works in the real world.
Lately, we’ve been thinking about what other professions share this rhythm. Two came to mind: architects (which makes sense, given our tagline!) and chefs. Our end products might be very different (not skyline-altering or as delicious, unfortunately), but we do share a similar blueprint for excellence. I’ll explain with a few real-world examples from our kitchen—er, office.
We begin with a shared vision and, from there, build a blueprint.
Chef-owner of Le Coq au Vin, Reimund Pitz, explains his recipe for success: “I don’t buy into ‘ideas,’ I buy into a vision…Once you have a vision, you then need a plan to get to that vision, to see that vision succeed. You treat this as a responsibility…When you have a plan, you need an implementation process with checks and balances. Make sure the food or service that you’ve selected or offer is of high value [sic] to the customer, high quality [sic]. Make sure things are executed consistently on a daily basis, whether you’re there or not.”
Building a shared vision of success with our clients is the first step in our recipe for success, too. Whether we are working with a language service provider (LSP) on their M&A goals, an LSP who requires our sales-as-a-service, or a global enterprise client on the best way to penetrate a new market, we craft a vision of what success means to them first. Then, we design scalable frameworks to get them there.
Our Recipe for Success in Action:
A tech-forward European LSP approached us to revitalize their enterprise relationships. First, we sat down and mapped their long-term vision for one of their strategic accounts. To increase revenue and elevate their top-performing team’s visibility, we identified three focus areas: optimizing their current program, launching new initiatives to create fresh revenue streams, and developing templated localization proposals to let them scale without reinventing the wheel each time. Vision, then blueprint, then execution.
As Chef Raimund Pitz says, we ensured that our solution was high-value and high-quality for our client, resulting in increased revenue within their existing program, securing a multi-year contract renewal, and creating new opportunities for future growth through the award of additional global programs.
Mastery over foundational elements is essential for success.
Good architects understand the underlying elements of their art just as much as they must understand the materials they work with.
Acclaimed American architect, Paul Rudolph, was quoted as saying, “Principles are principles. Principles don’t change. Styles change; attitudes change. Things are in a constant state of flux. The only grasp one can have on the profession is to get a handle on great principles.”
The language services industry is no different. The tools change. The technologies evolve. The acronyms multiply. We are always in a state of flux. But the fundamentals, understanding what clients actually need and delivering consistent quality, don’t budge.
Our Blueprint in Action:
When a global health, beauty, and lifestyle enterprise needed to connect more authentically with international audiences, they came to us. Their videographers were heading to 24 countries and needed local guides to help them tailor their storytelling to each culture. They didn’t need anything fancy, just straightforward, practical insight.
We went market by market, conducting primary and secondary research to give them clear, usable cultural context in a format that allowed their teams to move fast without missing the mark. We didn’t use theoretical frameworks. We gave them grounded intelligence that made their lives easier and their work precise and engaging.
The art of harmonious fusion ties everything together.
The magic happens when everything comes together. The architect blends light, space, and material to create something that is both functional and awe-inspiring. The chef balances sweet and salty, sour and umami to create a dish that is greater than the sum of its parts.
This is the heart of our work—the fusion of strategy, execution, and partnership.
Our Fusion in Action:
A European technology startup needed a go-to-market strategy to break into the US market. Their target prospect was a multinational enterprise already managing over a billion translated words annually across a range of quality levels. The startup came to us because they needed someone who understood both the technology and the language services landscape. We could bridge those worlds without oversimplifying either.
We built an ROI-based business case that addressed the technical realities of integration. Then, we hosted a live demonstration of our client’s technology in a simulated environment of their prospect’s workflow. Finally, we delivered a detailed cost proposal that eliminated any uncertainty.
After the paid pilot program demonstrated the significant benefits of working with our client, their prospect awarded them the contract.
Let’s create something beautiful together.
Vision. Structure. Creative fusion.
After two decades in this industry, we’ve learned that vision without execution is just a daydream. And execution without vision is just busywork. But when you bring all the right elements together, a clear-eyed ambition, mastery of the fundamentals, and the creative fusion of unexpected elements, something remarkable happens.
That’s where buildings scrape the sky. That’s where meals become memories. And that’s where global content strategies turn casual customers into lifelong brand advocates.
Your next great project is waiting. Let’s draw up the plans together.
